The author, originally from Moravia, first trained as a carver. He studied and later taught at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. He is one of the leading Austrian Art Nouveau sculptors, he was a member of the Hagenbund and the Vienna Art Nouveau. He exhibited his works at the Venice Biennale in 1907 or at the Wiener Secession in 1925 and 1931. His imaginative animal sculptures are best known. The offering work was made by Keramos.
