South Caucasus, Karabakh, probably the Shuha region, around 1900. The famous and coveted Chondzoresk, or "Kazak with cloud strips", is sometimes called the Dragon Kazak, as the clouds in the field represent highly stylized Chinese dragon motifs that came to the Caucasus from Silk Road. trails, on admired Chinese porcelain, textiles, etc. These catchy motifs in a classic colorful combination are complemented on our specimen by a relatively unusual number of elements, including stars, birds, symbols of the so-called magic eye, etc. According to the inconspicuous Armenian cross in the lower left, It can be judged that this rare piece originated in the Armenian Christian environment.
