Matyáš Bernard Braun, a Czech sculptor and carver of Tyrolean origin, was born in Sautens near Innsbruck. Around 1710, Braun settled permanently in Prague, where he soon found friends, customers and a Czech wife. It represents one of the top representatives of the Czech Baroque sculpture scene. He won the admiration of the public, among other things, the statue of St. Luitgarde on Charles Bridge.
