Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1677 - 1750) GLOBUS COELESTIS NOVUS

Baroque table star globe by I.G. Doppelmayer according to the map of the starry sky by Johann Hevelius. The globe consists of twelve carved wedges with pasted on hand-painted engravings on paper. It is set in a four-legged base with an octagonal wooden horizon and brass meridians. The equivalent piece is located in the National Library of the Czech Republic.
