Johann Stanislaus Schaffroth was born in 1766 in Baden-Baden. He was a German painter, a student of Jakob Becker and Karel Kaspar Pitz. He also studied painting in Stuttgart and Dresden. From 1795 to 1846 he worked as an art teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Baden-Baden. Provided pictures for royal residences and abbeys. On the fringes of his business, Schaffroth studied bizarre trees and sketched crumbling ruins.
