FIRST-REPUBLIC RUG

The offered rug in predominant shades of red and brown is an interesting example of First Republic textile production from the second half of the 1930s. The design of the carpet bears a striking resemblance to Antonín Kybal's designs from the period of his close collaboration with the Krásná jizba Družstevní práce and Artěl. In the period of the 1930s, the realised carpets abandoned the economical solution of the artistic concept based on close cooperation with functionalist architects in favour of a new concept of organic shapes as a distinctive artistic artefact with distinctive artistic qualities.
