In the sculptural work of Zdeněk Dvořák in the 1930s, two separate lines emerged - a realistic one involving official commissions and intimate figurative sculpture, and a non-public abstract one, which in Czech art of this period represents a unique concentrated exploration of the possibilities of purely abstract sculpture.
