Miloš Jiránek has an important and irreplaceable place in the development of Czech modern painting. He studied at the Academy under Maximilian Pirner and Vojtech Hynais, and an important part of his knowledge was numerous trips abroad, especially to France. Despite the fact that he died at a very young age, like the portrayed Arnošt Hofbauer, he managed to participate in the founding of SVU Mánes, in the management of magazine Volné směry, co-organized the major exhibitions of Rodin (1902) and Munch (1905). Artwork comes from the property of Arnošt Hofbauer.
