Christoph Weigel (1654 - 1725) MAP OF THE WORLD

A decorative and rare, old and colored map of the world is displayed in two hemispheres. Both pole areas are also added in the circular projection. The title at the top of the bar carried by two putii. Rich parerga depicts the moon, sun, stars, allegories of wind and other meteorological, volcanological and hydrological phenomena on land and in the oceans throughout the rest of the leaf. The curiosity of the map is the depiction of California as an island, the Pacific and North Polar regions of the Earth remain far from their true outlines. Restored.
