Ivan Meštrovič (1883 - 1963) A GIRL READING

Ivan Meštrovič was one of the most famous artistic personalities of Croatia in the first third of the 20th century. He first trained as a stonemason, later studied sculpture, but did not complete his studies. During his travels, he studied sculptures of ancient and Renaissance masters, especially Michelangelo (about whom he also wrote an essay) and contemporary French sculptors August Rodin, Antoine Bourdell and Aristide Maillol, whose pattern is evident in his sculptures. The submitted drawing of the girl is provided with a dedication dated 6.V. 1921.
