Landscape in Tossa del Mar, a Spanish village in Catalonia, located in the province of Girona on the Costa Brava. The painter applies motifs from modern painting of the Paris school based on the legacy of the work of Paul Cézanne and Paul Gaugin. He became a member of the famous École de Paris, which was formed around Pablo Picasso. The Prague painter Georges (Karpeles) Kars, bought a house in Tossa del Mar in 1933 and lived there for three years. He had to move due to the Civil War and moved back to Paris. Jiří Kars met a number of well-known personalities, including Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, André Deraine, Vasily Kandinsky and Maurice Utrillo.
