Petra Oriešková (1941 - 2022) HANDS

Petra Oriešková was one of the painters of the new figuration and, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, she developed themes of human existence, which she fragmented into impressive surrealist wholes. The illusory space with its highly detailed treatment of hands and faces can almost be considered a manuscript symbolic language. The nude figures in the paintings from the 1970s reflect everyday dramas and are a unified and idealized medium, more dream than real figures.
