The monumental composition Tree by the Water represents a perfect mastery of the combination of drypoint and etching. Here, Vojtěch Preissig examines the strength of inspiration from Rembrandt's landscape scenes. It moves the original processing into its own realm of graphic experiment, which he mastered brilliantly technically. The work comes from the Waldes collection, inv. no. 875, restitution of the National Gallery in Prague, A 15/90.
