Zdena Fibichová (1933 - 1991) BOX

The author belongs to a small group of women sculptors who influenced the Czech post-war art scene. She studied sculpture under Prof. Josef Wagner at the Prague School of Applied Arts and was a member of the Trasa art group. Fibichová had a very wide range in her work, both in terms of expression and materials. She always tended towards abstraction but with a realistic undertone. During the 1980s, the artist further developed the principles contained in her earlier works. She introduced the element of pressing - pushing clay through a meat grinder - into her work with ceramics, and wirework, which she used to encircle elementary stereometric shapes
