Minka Podhajská (1881 - 1963) WINTER COTTAGES

Czech artist Minka (Vilemína) Podhajská, born in Vienna, a member of the group around Gustav Klimt and later an important creator of the Artěl team, was at the birth of the modern Czech toy in the new Czechoslovak Republic. However, she was also a talented painter and, as an official of art associations, she paved the way for other women who at that time bravely embarked on the path of art. The lovely snow-covered landscape with cottages shows a smooth rendering, and the author uses soft pastel colors to shade the snow, which completes the unusual lighting situation.
