Jaroslav Král (1883 - 1942) WOMAN WITH A BOWL OF FRUITS

Jaroslav Král is famous for his feminine nudes and lyrical cubism. The portrait of a woman with a bowl of fruit corresponds with her reduced color and sensitivity to the female theme to some earlier custom portraits. The silhouette is geometric and the colors are balanced by warm tones in the foreground, which add depth to the image. Unfortunately, Jaroslav Král's painting talent was prematurely terminated by Gestapo abduction and his death in Auschwitz.
