Josef Anton Trčka (1893 - 1940) DREAM OF A LONELY CHILD

Josef Anton Trčka spent almost his entire life in Vienna and at the time was one of the most prestigious photographers of celebrities, including Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Josef Svatopluk Machar. Trček's photographs contain a strong human dimension focused primarily on facial and hand expressions. The presented work reveals not only refined Art Nouveau stylization, but also his interest in folk art - he searched for stories, fairy tales and songs, and in the difficult times when he had conflicts with the Gestapo, he sought life optimism in it.
