Max Švabinský, an accomplished draftsman and engraver of extraordinary technical skill with a great eye for detail. A leading Czech painter and graphic artist, he studied with M. Pirner at the AVU in Prague, where he later worked as a professor and led the graphics department. The work is reproduced in Free Directions VII/1903, it comes from restitution from the National Gallery in 1992.
