Oldřich Jelínek was fascinated by machines since childhood, especially airplanes and hovercrafts of all kinds, locomotives, motorcycles, automobiles, etc., which he immortalized both as drawings and in his graphic work. He has contributed as an illustrator to the ABC of Young Engineers and Natural scientists and countless other books and magazines for youth and adults.
