Josef Svoboda (1901 - 1945) BIRCH ALLEY

Josef Svoboda became famous mainly as a painter of seas, boats and travel motifs. The Birch Avenue is a rarer example of his work, where water is again the unifying element of the composition. The thoughtful impressionistic autumn landscape with the birch avenue is one of the most artistically brilliant works, the looser brushwork giving the painting an authentic atmosphere.
