From real and concrete visual experience, Jan Zrzavý composed carefully modelled landscapes of his inner imagination. Brittany enchanted him so much that it became an emblematic landscape of his soul. Houses, rounded boulders and bobbing barges became symbols of mental processes, and the theme of the seashore is one of Zrzavý's most famous.
