From the expert opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The work presented is an undisputed and very charming work by the painter Antonia Brandeis, an artist whose work is still underappreciated. Antonie Brandeis first studied in Prague with Karel Javůrk, then enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She liked Italy so much that she continued to live and work there permanently until her death. She painted mainly in Venice, Florence and Rome. She regularly hung her paintings at the exhibitions of the Krasoumné jednota in Prague, where they were popularly bought by collectors. The present work testifies to Brandeis's talent as a painter, her knowledge of perspective and her cultivated Old Master colouring."
