František Drtikol is considered one of the most important photographers of the first third of the 20th century and his work is represented in many public and private collections. The present nude was taken at a time when he was at his absolute creative peak as a photographer and would have a lasting impact on nude photography. He also gained international acclaim in the 1920s and 1930s.
