Ota Janeček (1919 - 1996) HEAD OF A MAN

Ota Janeček was one of the prolific and very rigorous authors who almost scientifically progressed to the optimal abstraction of shapes. The head of a man is one of his frequently treated themes, to which he returned repeatedly, each time trying to imprint something of his personal artistic poetry on it. While the earlier Head subjects from the 1960s are composed of a rather more reserved and earthy palette, the presented Head of a Man is much wilder and the facial expression reveals introspection and inner conflict.
