Vincenc Beneš (1883 - 1979) STILL LIFE WITH FRUIT

Vincenc Beneš belonged to the founding generation of Czech modern art. He was a member of the now famous Eight and the Group of Artists, which represented a progressive current in art and reflected the new artistic trends coming from France - Fauvism and Cubism. Later, as the offered painting illustrates, Beneš turned to a more descriptive mode of painting with a clear application of Cézanne's structuration. This excellent painting comes from the collection of sculptor Břetislav Benda.
