Bohumír Jaroněk (1866 - 1933) SEA CLIFFS IN DALMATIA

Bohumír Jaroněk originally trained as a carver. This relationship of his to wood was also reflected in his impressive and very detailed woodcuts, which he used especially for landscapes in Wallachia. He also made trips to the Mediterranean during the winter and early spring, where he created oils and watercolours. The sea cliffs in Dalmatia are a lovely example of his freer artistic expression with a subject that is rather unique in his landscape work.
