René Roubíček (1922 - 2018) AN ALIEN

The theme of space expeditions is manifested here by hand-blown glass made of uranium enamel, which is characterised by its distinctive green colour. The collection consists of only twenty pieces. The object was created outside of the glass form: "It was purely an original creation created at the glass furnace with the interplay of the glass and me and the glassblower who was blowing it." His goal was to create an Ufon that was not meant to be scary, but instead as playful as the glass itself. Unlike Venetian or Scandinavian glass, his creation does not require any complex techniques; rather, he is guided by the physical properties of viscous glass. Roubíček's works are widely represented in important Czech and international institutions. The work comes from the important collection of Jiří Šetlík.
