Michal Bauer (1969) UNTOUCHED

The painting Untouched bears all the hallmarks of Michal Bauer's mature work. The laboriously applied relief structure contrasts with the smooth canvas, the pasty oil paint underlines the light trace of the watercolor pencil with a complementary effect - the opposite elements, however, form one thoughtful and interconnected whole. As with all the author's works, light is essential for the perception of this fragile work. Only with a favorable side light does it really sound full, brighten and shake. The unmistakable, formally completely finished image remains open to various projections and ideas of anyone who comes willing to listen. The canvas is reproduced in the catalog of Michal Bauer - Painting, published on the occasion of a solo exhibition in Topič's salon in 2021.
