The motif of the cottage hidden behind a grown spruce evokes a very pleasant and peaceful mood of a summer day spent alone in the Czech countryside. The author paid considerable attention to a believable color scheme, which keeps in muted earthy colors with occasional accents of the yellow ochre as a hint of the sun's rays shining through tree canopies. He does not hesitate to pile up the paint on the canvas in plastic formations, which perfectly copy the needles on branches, the texture of wood and the waterlogged slope. Plasticity is sometimes even tangible. The style of painting corresponds to the handwriting of Julius Mařák's students from the 1890s.
