Hendrik Goltzius (1558 - 1617) (zugeschrieben) FORTUNA

Hendrik Goltzius was born in Germany near the border with the Spanish Netherlands in an artistic family. His grandfather Hubrecht von Hinsbeck, aka Goltzius was a painter and mayor of Venlo, great-uncle Syberdt Goltz sculptor, father and brother John were painters, cousin was an artist and medievalist. More than 500 drawings, 160 engravings and 50 paintings or series of engravings have been preserved from the work of Hendrick Goltzius. He was a master of toning of drawings and graphics. Inspired by Titian and Rubens, he introduced live model painting at the painting academy he founded.
