Václav Březina (1862 - 1906) POND BY THE FOREST

From the opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented painting Pond by the forest is an undoubted and very high quality work of the landscape painter Václav Březina from his early period. Václav Březina was one of the earliest students of the landscape school of Julius Mařák at the Prague Academy from 1887. He was Mařák's most popular pupil, and his teacher's influence is also most evident in him. In the present work, Pond by the forest, the attention to detail, the feeling for composition, for colour composition and for the expression of mood is evident. The edge of the forest with the wooden building, the pool and the stones by the road is an objective record of nature, as well as a lyrical experience of it."
