Josef Navrátil (1798 - 1865) FOOTBRIDGE OVER THE STREAM

From the expert opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented romantic scenery The Footbridge Over the Stream is an undisputed and excellent work by Josef Navrátil, a work which, after comparison with the painter's other works, probably belongs to the 1840s. Landscape painting constituted the most numerous part of Navrátil's surviving versatile oeuvre. Navrátil travelled frequently and constantly renewed and paraphrased his reminiscences from his travels with great grace. He sketched exclusively while travelling and painted only after his return to the studio. Navrátil was able to combine landscape elements of a realistic basis into an artistic and idealized, yet vivid and convincing natural setting."
