Jaroslav Šetelík (1881 - 1955) BLACK LAKE

This early work by the outstanding landscape painter Jaroslav Šetelík represents a valuable example of a not quite common theme. Most of the available works on the market are devoted exclusively to Prague and its forms in all seasons. The latter gained general popularity and was featured on postcards. The landscape with the mountain lake probably belongs to the period when he stayed and painted in the High Tatras, from which we have few works.
