From the expert assessment of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The submitted unsigned Rocky Landscape with a rider is, in my opinion, an undoubted and typical work of the painter Julius Mařák, after comparison with other paintings probably from the first half of the 1970s. Mařák then visited the Tyrolean Alps, where he created many drawings and a studies of forest nature, many of which later became the basis for oil works. Intimate knowledge of forest still lifes, forest edges or mountainous rocky slopes and rocky slopes was a lifeless source of painting inspiration for Mařák throughout his life. The presented study, painted with a detailed velvety soft charcoal drawing, is a successful proof of this."
