Jakub Obrovský (1882 - 1949) GIRL IN THE GARDEN

Jakub Obrovský used a lot of nudes, rendez-vous in the garden and placed beautiful girls in the environment of sunlit and relaxed gardens. Several typical features are evident in the presented canvas - romantic lyricism, spontaneous and dynamic colors and brisk, striking handwriting. Jakub Obrovský's success during his lifetime was limited by the development of the avant-garde, which considered him artistically unacceptable. Despite this, he achieved success by being admitted to the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts (1913), to the Paris Societé Nationale des Beaux-Arts (1921), and in 1935 he was appointed rector of the Prague Academy.
