Josef Hubáček (1899 - 1931) CORSICA

Josef Hubáček was a student of special class by prof. Otakar Nejedlý. Hubáček's work is aptly evaluated by J. Čapek: "He probably wanted to get closer to the high discipline that classical landscape painting used to be" and V. V. Štech: "He defied time, its superstition of modernity, cheap pretense and easy achievement of originality." Josef Hubáček is famous for his landscape records from Corsica, where he repeatedly returned until his untimely death and provided accommodation for other students of the landscape painting special class.
