Paraphrase of paintings by an unknown author on a work with the same subject by the Austrian Baroque painter Tobias Pock (1610 Constance - 1681 Vienna), originally painted on copper (15.5 - 12.8). Pock's paintings came from the important Prague collection of Josef Hoser (1770 - 1848), who became extremely fond of them and in 1843 had them copied by the painter Rudolf Gaupmann (1815 Vienna - 1877 Graz). In 1972, National Gallery acquired two more versions of Summer and Autumn from the same series. It is obvious that the acquaintance and popularity of Pock's paintings found a response among younger collectors and was more often copied. The presented quartet is a good work of a younger author, very carefully done, it repeats the morphology of putti almost literally. Painting on a coarser canvas points to the half of the 19th century. Consulted with PhDr. Hana Seifertová.
