Jakub Berdych st. (1953) A STOVE

The link between Berdych's works is the surrounding world and the traces of man in it. He walks on the ground with open eyes and mind, literally translating it into glass, whether in the form of sculptures, bottles or vases. Since 2003 he has been a teacher at the Department of Design at the Technical University of Liberec. His work is characterized by an unobtrusive monumentality derived from the lapidary shapes given by nature, but also by witty artistic quotations of morphology created without artistic ambition by anonymous creators of technical solutions for industrial products. His work is represented, for example, in the MSB in Jablonec nad Nisou, the UPM in Prague, the MN in Wrocław and in many Czech and foreign private collections.
