Fused glass sculpture with impressive coloured valers. Aleš Vašíček studied at the Secondary Glass School in Železný Brod, continued his studies with Prof. Libenský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he graduated in 1972. Together with Oldřich Plíva, Yan Zoritchak, Pavel Trnka and Marian Karel, he was a representative of the new cut, so-called prismatic sculpture. The authors were interested in using the optical qualities of cut, most often crystal glass. At the end of the 1980s, Vašíček turned to the technique of fused sculpture, which brought him the Grand Prix award in Kanazawa, Japan, in 1991. His objects are based on simple geometric shapes, characterized by the circle or square. The artist exploits the translucency of glass and the nuances of colour coming from the mass of the enamel.
