The Holíč teapot with painted flowers on white glaze is a typical example of the first faience manufacture in the Austrian monarchy. The production of Holíč did not have its own typical designs, but was based on the designs of important factories in Europe - mainly Italian, French and German designs. However, the peculiarity of Holíč faience is due to the way it was processed and how these patterns were adopted in Holíč - at first they were produced for the Viennese court, later they created rococo porcelain and stoneware. It was founded by the husband of Empress Maria Theresa, František Štepán Lotrinský (1708-1765). From the very beginning, the manufactory used local resources, but experts from the Habanese circle, French ceramic masters and artists from Tuscany were involved in production. Holíč ceramics demonstrate the advanced level of folk art and manufactory production of the time.
