Josef Hubáček was a student of Prof. Otakar Nejedlý. Hubáček's work is aptly assessed by J. Čapek: "He probably wanted to approach the high discipline that classical landscape painting used to be" and V. V. Štech: "He defied the times, their superstition of modernity, cheap pretence and easy achievement of originality." The present work can be placed in time between his earlier works from Německá Rybna with his former classmates from the Academy, where he painted in 1927 and 1928.
