LARGE BAROQUE PIETÀ

The imposing Baroque woodcarving depicts the Virgin Mary seated with the body of Jesus in her lap with her head to her right side. Mary leans slightly towards the body of Christ, her head covered by a veil. The sculpture is carved at the back. The statue was intended for the outdoors, which left numerous marks on the statue due to rain and wind. Remnants of later polychromy.
