Josef Čapek (1887 - 1945) ALBUM OF TEN GRAPHIC SHEETS

From the opinion of PhDr. Pavla Pečinková: "The submitted work is a graphic album published in 1918 by Veraikon as the second volume of the Alba grafická series. It contained six loosely inserted linocuts and four lithographs, another linocut was printed on the title page.In the Album of Ten Fragile Sheets, Josef Čapek presented to the public a representative selection of his previous graphic work. The main thematic areas of his artistic work (inspiration from the biographer, the theme of love, social motifs, and children's themes) are represented here, as well as the range of his contemporary expressions, from experiments with artistic form based on Cubism to monumental Neo-Classical compositions." The album is unique as a collector's item, which is on the market for the first time in this complete form and is a great rarity even in the collections of cultural institutions.
