Julius Mařák (1832 - 1899) GLADE IN A FOREST

From the opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented painting Glade in a forest comes from the period when Mařák's angle of view became increasingly narrow and he focused on a smaller limited space. Thematically he focused on the interior of the forest and on life in it, admiring forest clearings, paths, swamps and ponds. The forest was Mařák's second home, he looked for lots of closed forest solitudes in it. The detailed, velvety-soft brush drawing in a delicately coordinated brown-yellow-green color is an emotional celebration of forest nature. It is formed with a certainty that proves Mařák's landscape mastery."
