Julius Mařák (1832 - 1899) FOREST PATH

From the opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The presented study is an unmistakable and characteristic work of Julio Mařák. We date its creation to the second half of the 1880s. In 1885, Mařák undertook a number of trips along the Danube and through lower Austria. He liked the Rothschild estate the most in Gaming, where Rotschild owned and cared for a piece of primeval forest. Mařák was Rotschild's guest for a time and created a number of drawing and oil studies with views of forest interiors, some of which later became the inspiration for large paintings."
