From the expert opinion of PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "Paintings of chamber proportions Landscape with Ruins and Moonlit Night are undoubted and beautiful works by August Bedřich Piepenhagen. The composition of the paintings, their color and theme are typical of Piepenhagen. It was in the 1940s and 1950s that Piepenhagen tirelessly paraphrased similar topics in different periods and times of day, landscapes abandoned and revived by a lone pilgrim or fisherman. We find similar motifs in the artist's swatches, which he sent out through his friends for demonstrations and accepted orders based on them. The presented counterparts, Landscape with a Ruin and Moonlit Night, are very beautiful examples of Piepenhagen's special painting mastery. "
