Illustration by Josef Lada in the Sunday humorous supplement of the České slovo magazine called Kvítko z čertovy zahrádky. Thanks to its attractive content, Večerní České slovo became the most widespread daily in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s, and in the 1930s this evening had no competition in terms of size in Central Europe. The icon of Czech painting and illustration with a typical handwriting of a strong line and rounded shapes of figures now belongs to the legends of Czech fine art and icons of Czech cartoonists.
