In the 1930s and 1940s, Vladimir Lebedev focused intensively on experiments in the field of Cubism. The Cubist period preceded his realistic paintings and represents an important milestone in Vladimir Lebedev's artistic development. His drawing style was reflected in his work with the brush - he painted with a brush similar to drawing with a pencil, using short strokes and clearly defined shapes. He portrayed guitarists, acrobats, dancers and animated their movements on paper in a cubist form. The composition thus resembles a photographic experiment with multiple exposures.
